73rd ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics

As the North American Center of Excellence for The Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI), our world expert faculties are pioneering the development of multi-omics methodologies to better understand the molecular composition of the foods we love, how agricultural practices impact their nutritional composition, and how certain food molecules can impact human health. This year, IIFH affiliated faculty and Vice President of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, Carlito Lebrilla, along with PTFI Global Director, Selena Ahmed, and IIFH Research Program Manager, Mariana Barboza, will highlight the impact of this global collaborative effort to better understand the planet’s edible biodiversity for humans and planetary health.

  • Carlito Lebrilla, Distinguished Professor, University of California, Davis; ASMS Vice-President for Programs
    • Date/session: Opening Session, Sunday June 1
      • Topic: Opening remarks from ASMS Vice-President
  • Selena Ahmed, Global Director, Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI); Dean of Food EDU based at the American Heart Association; Research Professor, Center for American Indian and Rural Health Equity, Montana State University
    • Date/session: Opening Plenary Speaker, Sunday June 1:
      • Topic: The Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI): Mapping Food Quality of the Planet’s Edible Biodiversity
  • Mariana Barboza, Research Program Manager, Innovation Institute for Food and Health, UC Davis
    • Date/Session: Wednesday, June 4: Food Safety & Chemistry: Foodomics, Allergens, Bacteria, Foods and Supplements
